Inside 30 minutesA five minute drive, or a twenty-minute walk down the hill on a track through chestnut woods, takes you into Bagnone.
Bagnone is an elegant old market town, with back streets worth wandering. Seven bars, three places to eat, and a range of shops provide for everyday needs; and there are doctors, a pharmacy, post office, and banks with ATM. There's also a ball park and the best rock pools for jumping and swimming in. Half an hour's drive will take you to any of the villages in the Bagnone area, including historic Filetto, Malgrate and Castiglione; Iera, Orturano, Gabbiana, Vico and Treschietto. There are many good restaurants within easy reach in the villages around. Half an hour in the car car will take you to three local towns. Villafranca has good local shops. To the north there’s the sleepy historic town of Pontremoli. To the south there’s Aulla, rapidly developing as the modern commercial centre of Lunigiana (including the best-ever icecream shop). |
