Welcome to Al Palazz!
|
Al Palazz is a beautifully restored historic village house set high in the Tuscan hills, at the heart of the Apennine National Park. It’s our family home in Italy. There are magnificent views from the house and from the large south-facing landscaped gardens and private pool (open June-September).
Al Palazz is a peaceful place to relax, enjoy local food, walk and swim, explore, or simply laze and gaze at the view. There are few tourists and great natural beauty. Our detailed House Books provide an excellent guide to the area. The house has traditional stone and whitewashed walls, terracotta floors, wooden beams and vaulted ceilings. It is spacious, tastefully furnished, and fully equipped for a very comfortable stay. It sleeps up to 4 in great comfort in the Villa (first & second floors) or up to 6 with the Cantina, the self-contained ground floor apartment. We're experienced hosts. We've successfully shared Al Palazz with 120 families across more than 170 weeks, in 21 years of rental. We hope you'd like to stay here too. A Magical Stay in the Italian Hills We had an unforgettable stay at this beautiful house— a true gem nestled in the hills. The house itself is lovely and thoughtfully designed, but it’s the surrounding garden that really takes your breath away. It felt like stepping into a National Trust garden, with stunning views, lovely flowers, and charming details throughout. The outdoor amenities were a dream: a well-equipped outdoor kitchen, a table tennis table for spontaneous matches, and a gorgeous swimming pool complete with changing rooms and both indoor and outdoor showers. One of our favourite moments was watching glow worms drift down the valley at night — an absolutely magical experience. David and Jane were the perfect hosts: warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful with local recommendations. They struck a perfect balance between being available when needed and giving us our privacy — something we really appreciated. Inside, the house is equally impressive. It’s clearly a much-loved home, not just a holiday rental. Everything was beautifully curated and well-stocked: from a library thoughtfully organised by genre, to a collection of Italian films on DVD, to a kitchen with everything you could possibly need (including sharp knives — a rarity in rentals!). There were also three brilliant guidebooks tailored to the property, filled with insights into the house’s history, local walks, and native flora — all incredibly helpful and a joy to read. The nearby restaurant just across the road was charming and always buzzing at both lunch and dinner. We also loved exploring the local town of Bagnone. It was authentic and untouristy, with friendly locals, lovely cafes, and delicious restaurants — a perfect slice of real Italy. We can’t recommend this place highly enough. It’s rare to find somewhere that seamlessly blends comfort, character, and charm. (Harry & Sabrina, Jun 2025, Direct Booking) |
